Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga Retreat
The Being Well Process is delighted to offer their popular Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga Retreat here on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. You need to no prior experience of yoga, or to be fit to attend as the sessions are geared to all fitness levels.
Regardless of whether you attend a 1 day or 2 day retreat you will receive a full day of learning and relaxation. This will allow you to rebuild, recoup and refresh yourself, and will provide you with access to new understandings about how and why humans behave in certain ways when under stress, or are in distress. You will be exposed to a raft of new coping mechanisms to be able to deal positively with the challenges that life inevitably throws at us. And you will have a chance to be still, be with yourself and make that a positive experience!
For professionals this is an opportunity to extend your knowledge about how our biology, neurology, psychology and social interactions affect and impact our ability to function and cope well with life's challenges in a user friendly way. By learning in an environment that uses non-academic language, and by being exposed to experiential methods of teaching through the practicing of the tools that can enable and empower resilience and change, you can access a range of new techniques to assist those you are trying to help. Set against a backdrop of evidence-based theories and techniques that are rooted in a neuropsychotherapeutic approach, (which takes into account the interplay between the mind, body, social interactions, culture and the environment on a person's wellbeing), you will leave with practical and usable ideas.
Learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable is the key message of these retreats. Often, we will do anything to avoid or distract ourselves from feeling bad, and this can then create other problems for us. By finding better ways to deal with difficulty we give ourselves new opportunities to heal.
Led by Amberley Meredith, a registered psychologist with 23 years’ experience, who has a Masters in Health Psychology and is a certified Yin Yoga teacher. These retreats are appropriate for everyone, and especially those who have had experience of, or work with those who have issues with mental discomfort, including; depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and/or addictions.
The understanding and knowledge you will gain from these retreats will not only help you become a better version of yourself, they can increase your confidence in being able to be there for yourself, as well as others in times of need.
Our retreats are very small and have a maximum of 10 people in attendance at any one time.
The retreats comprise of a combination of Yin Yoga sessions, evidence-based meditations and breathing exercises, scientific explanations, delicious vegan/vegetarian food, and use of the pool and spa pool.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga whereby you remain the positions for longer periods of time. It is a more passive practice where we can turn inwards and learn to nurture our innate calmness that can be so affected and disturbed by external matters or others. It allows us to encourage and support the neurological acquisition of the ability to sit with discomfort, support ourselves to hold space and learn to be our own "coaches". It creates an opportunity to build resilience and practice self-care through improving our listening skills to that inner voice. We can come to know ourselves better, which then allows us to take this information and use it wisely in our "uncomfortable situations" that occur in the outside world. Yin Yoga works on the connective tissues, including the ligaments, joints and fascia increases our range of movement, and it offers a wonderful chance to experience stillness and practice self-compassion. It is experiential therapy that talks not only to the mind, but also to the body, allowing us to access the parasympathetic (non flight or fight mode) system and pattern this learning on the neurological and biological levels.
Please note that there is no on-site accommodation available. The retreat is run from our beautiful property here in Doonan, but does not offer overnight stays.
You will need to book separate accommodation. There are many wonderful options to suit all budgets in the area, including an upmarket bed-and-breakfast situated right next door to the retreat.
We can arrange private retreats, including for your workplace or even hens parties, with a minimum of 4 people in attendance. Or you can have a look at the upcoming dates we have available for the first half of this year.

Amberley Meredith M.Sc, MAPS
Psychologist
Professional Memberships and Registrations:
Psychology Board of Australia
Medicare Provider (Psychologist)
Member of the International Institute of Complimentary Therapists
Amberley has been a registered psychologist since 2003 and she is a published author of the children’s book Bessie Bump and Friends. She has worked in various roles in the health and wellbeing sector for over 20 years, across continents and many cultures, working with individuals and groups in the corporate world, in the public health system and in private practice. Amberley practices a vast array of different therapeutic techniques as she does not hold to the concept that here is one ‘fix’ for everyone. She runs retreats from her home in Noosa, and on location in Australia and in New Zealand.
Amberley’s approach is centred around the belief that humans exist and connect on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level, and that we are affected by both the seen, and sometimes un-recognised universe around us. As we exist in these different ways true healing can only occur when we address the needs and connections of all these levels.
