Professional Supervision and PsychoSocial Recovery Coaching

Picture

Many people find it helpful to have someone to talk to, whether about work-related concerns or personal experiences. Having access to a safe, confidential space can support reflection, assist in processing challenges or frustrations, and help people consider possible directions for change in their professional or personal lives.

A lot of organisations offer professional supervision, and some require it as part of workplace policy. Working with someone who is external to an employer—and sometimes outside one’s immediate profession—can provide an alternative perspective and valuable insights. While employee assistance programs may be effective for short-term or crisis support, longer-term or more complex needs may benefit from ongoing professional supervision or psychosocial recovery-oriented support.

Research continues to highlight the impact of workplace stressors on mental health, including high workloads, personal stress, and exposure to distressing material. Vicarious trauma is increasingly recognised as an important consideration for professionals working in areas such as first response, child protection, and legal or judicial settings.

Debriefing, consultation, and psychosocial recovery coaching can play an important role in supporting people who are navigating ongoing stress, mental health challenges, or recovery goals. Drawing on extensive experience in trauma-informed practice, Amberley offers professional supervision and psychosocial recovery coaching that is guided by ethical standards and contemporary understanding.

Through her work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, Amberley recognises the value of psychological and psychosocial support across many areas of life, and the importance of being heard, supported, and understood.

Professional supervision and psychosocial recovery coaching may assist with:
  • Supporting balance between professional and personal life
  • Exploring recovery goals and personal strengths
  • Considering career development or change
  • Providing a confidential space to reflect on issues causing distress or discomfort
  • Developing skills, insight, and self-awareness
